The airline transportation community has been abuzz with the imposition of a unilateral tax on carbon emissions by the European Union (EU). Basically, the EU has applied carbon offset standards, or Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), being planned for industries across Europe to airlines as well as coal-fired electrical plants, shipyards and other industries.
