PRESS RELEASE RUNNERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD GEAR UP FOR THIRD ANNUAL JERUSALEM INTERNATIONAL MARATHON, MARCH 1, 2013 New York - August 15, 2012: Athletes from Israel and around the world will arrive in Jerusalem next spring for the third annual Jerusalem International Marathon on March 1, 2013. Taking place during Israel's 65th anniversary year, the race will include 26-mile, 13-mile and 6.2-mile running routes through a unique course combining historic sites, beautiful landscapes and modern attractions, including the Old City of Jerusalem, Mount Scopus and Hebrew University, Sultan's Pool, Mount Zion, American and German Colonies the Alrov Mamilla outdoor mall and streets adjacent to the Mahane Yehuda Market. "We are very excited to host top local and international athletes for one of the most spectacular marathons in the world," said Haim Gutin, Israel Commissioner for Tourism, North and South America. "We hope this race continues to propel Jerusalem as an extraordinary tourism destination combining unparalleled historic sites and modern attractions and events." Prior to the race, the Jerusalem Marathon will also host a sports and health exposition at the Jerusalem International Convention Center, February 26-28. Also, the Israel Ministry of Tourism will invite universities, community organizations and religious centers to send representatives to next year's marathon.
