Lake Placid – The Adirondack Mountain Club is presenting the Winter Family
Weekends series at the Adirondak Loj on Heart Lake. On the weekends of February
29-March 2 and March 7-9, the Adirondak Loj will host activities geared for, but
not limited to, families with children ages 8 to
12.
Outdoor activities range from snowshoeing
and skiing, looking for animal tracks, building snow forts, sledding, and
creating works of art. The cost is $140/$195 for children/adults, $155/$215 for
nonmember children/adults, and includes instruction, meals, and lodging for the
weekend.
The Adirondak Loj was constructed in 1927
and has accommodations for forty guests. It is located on the shore of
Heart Lake, located deep within the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. It
caters to those seeking education, recreation and hospitality in the wilderness
and maintains a rustic dining room with homemade cuisine, a stone fireplace, and
an Adirondack-themed library.
To reach the Loj, drive five miles south of
Lake Placid, New York, turn right onto the Adirondak Loj Road off Route 73, and
proceed approximately five miles to the end of the road.
