DC’s Dupont Circle Hotel Gets Political with an Unofficial Voting Center
Campaign Funds Donated to The Smithsonian National Zoo
This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the politically themed “Party Animals,” the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities exhibition of 200 donkey and elephant monumental sculptures. These symbols of the Democratic and Republican parties clad in colorful designs punctuated street corners, traffic islands, and public plazas around our Nation’s Capital. One of each embellished iconic figure will now be popping up as public art in the chic and contemporary lobby of The Dupont Circle Hotel. Their playful political vibe will infuse the liberating air of the hotel, as it becomes the unofficial voting center for the 2012 Presidential election.
These two political, eye-candy Party Animals will serve as your make-shift voting booth starting at the conclusion of the Republican National Convention and open through Monday, November 5, 2012 - the day before the official election. Political elections are always a gamble, so what better way than using poker chips for ballots in the hotel’s fun-filled polls. Guests of all political persuasions will be handed, inconspicuously, a red, white, or blue poker chip upon check-in, to cast their vote by “feeding the partyanimals” with the betting patriotic, colored chip. Just toss the coin in the clear container beside the animal symbolizing your party preference, and watch the levels rise. The chips will be counted and the predicted winner, based on the unofficial tally of the hotel’s “citizens,” will be announced on the eve of the authorized Presidenti election.
There is yet another, more nationalistic benefit for this festive political campaign. The Dupont Circle Hotel will literally feed the animals with a donation from the “Party Animals Campaign Fund,”totaling at least $2,500, to The Smithsonian National Zoo. And there’s more - the main campaign drive comes from the guest’s stay and special package called Let’s Get Political. $10 from each reservation up until Tuesday, November 6, 2012 goes into the fund for an even larger donation to the Zoo. Guest’s enjoy an extra advantage during this election season, receiving a platoon of gifts during their stay at the Dupont Circle Hotel. But note: this is not a bribe and you still have to pay your hotel tax!
So, let the chips fall where they may— stay with us and cast your vote!
